Interact

The New Britain-Berlin Rotary Club now sponsors an Interact Club at New Britain High School.  Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people aged 14 to 18.  The club held its first organizational meetings in October, 2004 and received its formal charter in 2005.

Interact is a combination of the words “International” and “action.”  Clubs are designed to help students develop leadership skills, and gain practical experience in conducting school and community projects.  Each year, Interact clubs complete at least two community service projects, one of which furthers international understanding and goodwill.

The first Interact club was formed in Melbourne, Florida in 1962.  Today, there are more than 10,000 clubs in 118 countries with a worldwide membership of 230,000 youth.

The newly elected officers of the NBHS Interact club for 2007-2008 are:

President Paul Poidamani
Vice-President Eric Vargas
Secretary Ahmed Belal
Treasurer Eric Basdekian

Faculty advisors are Mrs. Roxanne LaPlante
  Mrs. Laura Curran

Rotary Interact Coordinator Ian Lucas
